Phillipsburg, Kansas, Tuesday, July 25, 1916

James F. Tomberlin was born in McDonough County, Illinois, August 4, 1851. He has lived on a farm in Greenwood township, this county for a number of years. He was one of the hard working and successful farmers of Phillips County. The community was greatly surprised at his untimely death. ... Mr. Tomberlin was a good man.

He united with the Big Creek Baptist Church in 1887. ...

He was married on September 14, 1881, to Miss Alta M. King, who died July 15, 1895. To them were born two children, Nora A, and Archie.

On September 3, 1899, he was married to Miss Sleeta Drennon, who survives him. To this union was born one daughter Glennie E.

He was a kind and loving husband and father.

The funeral service was held at his late residence on July 27, The Rev. J. W. Neyman conducting the services. Interment was made at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
