Elza Majors
ELZA MAJORS (later spelled Magers) was born in 1826 in Edmonson Co., Kentucky, son of Thomas and Polly Majors. His father was born in Virginia and his mother in Kentucky. Elza first came to Illinois in 1854, near Swan Creek, then to Greenbush, and then in 1868 to McDonough County. He married in Kentucky in 1850 to Elizabeth Patterson, who was born in 1838, daughter of John Patterson and Jane McCoppen Patterson of Kentucky. Elza and Elizabeth Majors had children, viz: William T., b. June 1853 in Kentucky; Sarah Jane, b. May 1854 in Kentucky; Lountha Samantha, b. January 1855 in Warren Co, IL; Charles, b. June 1857 in Warren Co.; Anna, b. 1862 in Warren Co.; Johnny, b. 1864 in Warren Co.; Noah, b. 1866 in McDonough Co., IL; Mary, b. 1868 in McDonough Co., IL; Frank, b. 1872 in McDonough Co.; Elmer, b. Oct 1873 in Bushnell, McDonough Co.; Tilden, b. 1877 in Fulton Co., IL. The family moved to Fulton Co., Illinois, in 1875, then moved to Nebraska about 1884-85. Elza and wife Lizzie Magers died in Hamilton County, Nebraska.
